FITNESS PROGRAMMES FOR PERFORMERS
Founded in 2015 through the partnership of Clara Fischer Gam and Weld Encarnação, the project's mission is to promote physical fitness required to succeed in artistic performance, longevity in the profession, autonomy and vitality for dancers, circus and performance artists at a professional and pre-professional level.
Have you ever realised that the physical demands of artistic performance are as high as the demands of high performance sports?
Scientific research has been affirming for more than 3 decades that despite the performance artist expressing his gestures with lightness and fluidity, the dance demands on dancer's body are the same as the sport demands the athlete. However, the image of the dancer remains as an ethereal and fragile being who is not subject to the same laws of physics as other human beings. That is also true for circus artists, performers and musical theatre actors. Meanwhile, the current artistic choreography, highly creative and always in development, has been increasingly challenging in physical terms. Thus, more and more, the artist's body must be prepared to express the creations of choreographers and artistic directors.
To ignore the physiological needs of today's artistic performance is
to deny the development of art.
That's why we're here. For us, it is through education, training and dissemination of research that we can promote a change in this paradigm. Our job is to bring Physical Fitness, Dancer Health and Dance Science to artists, companies, schools and colleges. We offer long-term strength and conditioning planning, consultancies for companies and schools, courses on performance enhancement and injury prevention for teachers and artists and we also provide personal training programmes for artists.
It's time for every performance artist to have access to a truly specific approach for themselves, one that considers the unique relationship between physicality and art!
